SHIELDGUARD HEPA+ UV-C Air Purifier
Three Products in One: HEPA+ Air Filter · 265 nm Pathogen Inactivator · UV Sanitizing Chamber
SHIELDGUARD INC introduces a room-isolation air system for Canada and the United States. One floor inlet open, all others sealed, door closed — air is drawn through HEPA H14 filtration and enclosed UV-C, then returned to the same room with positive pressure that blocks contaminated air from other units and floors.

Room Isolation — Closed Circuit + Positive Pressure
Inside a room or apartment, you open one inlet and seal all others. Air is drawn from that inlet, passes through every stage of the device (pre-filter → charcoal → HEPA H14 → MERV17 barrier → fan → UV chamber), and clean air is released back into the same room through the air outlet. With the door closed, this creates positive pressure that blocks contaminated air from other rooms, floors, or the rest of the building.
This is fundamentally different from portable purifiers — they work in an open loop: they collect room air, filter it, and release it, but contaminated air from other rooms and outdoors keeps entering through HVAC dynamics. In senior care homes, a sick resident on floor 2 can have their air pulled by the building system and spread to other floors. SHIELDGUARD was developed during COVID precisely to isolate one room from the rest of the building.

2 · Air dynamics inside the cartridge
- Room air enters a single open floor inlet; other inlets sealed.
- Cartridge stack removes particles and odours progressively.
- Blower pushes air through the enclosed UV-C chamber (no eye exposure).
- Clean air returns to the same room, building positive pressure at the closed door.
Room closed-circuit overview
Air is drawn from a single open floor inlet (all others sealed). It passes through the replaceable cartridge (pre-filter → charcoal → HEPA H14 → MERV17 barrier), then the fan drives air into the enclosed 265 nm UV-C chamber where remaining viral DNA/RNA is disrupted. Clean, UV-treated air returns to the same room through the outlet — creating positive pressure at the closed door that blocks contaminated air from other rooms and floors.
Air Processing Sequence
Cartridge layers (steps 2–5) are user-replaceable. The fan drives filtered air into the UV-C chamber (step 7), which inactivates pathogens that may pass mechanical filtration. Sanitizing lid (top) is separate — for personal items, not air flow.
❌ Traditional Purifiers
- Open-loop: pull room air, filter, blow back
- Fresh contaminated air keeps entering
- Only 20–40% of room air actually cleaned
- Cannot block infiltration from other units or floors
✅ SHIELDGUARD Room Isolation
- One floor inlet open — all others sealed
- Closed-circuit: same room air recirculated and treated
- Positive pressure at closed door blocks outside air
- Progressive cleaning of 100% of air inside the isolated room

UV-C Pathogen Inactivator & Sanitizing Chamber
After mechanical filtration, air passes through the fan into a controlled 265 nm UV-C dose chamber. The separate LID chamber on top sanitizes personal items — minimum 2 minutes for effective dosage.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is SHIELDGUARD different from a portable air purifier?
Portable purifiers work in an open loop: they pull room air, filter it, and blow it back while contaminated air from other rooms, floors, and outdoors keeps entering through doors, windows, and building HVAC. SHIELDGUARD uses a closed circuit: one floor inlet open, all others sealed, door closed. Air is drawn from that single inlet, filtered (HEPA H14 + MERV17), pushed through the fan into the UV-C chamber, and returned to the same room — creating positive pressure that blocks infiltration from the rest of the building.
What is room isolation with positive pressure?
You seal every air inlet except one floor vent and keep the room door closed. The device continuously recirculates and cleans the air inside that room only. Because clean air is released back into the same sealed space, pressure at the door becomes slightly positive (+ΔP), which helps prevent contaminated air from neighbouring units, corridors, or other floors from entering.
Why is the UV-C chamber after the fan?
Per the SHIELDGUARD engineering block diagram, filtered air passes through the replaceable cartridge (pre-filter, charcoal, HEPA H14, MERV17 barrier), then the fan drives it into the enclosed 265 nm UV-C chamber. Any viruses that may have passed mechanical filtration are exposed to UV-C for DNA/RNA disruption before clean air exits to the room.
Is UV-C safe for families?
Yes — the 265 nm UV-C path for air treatment is fully enclosed inside the device body. There is zero UV leakage into the room. The separate LID chamber on top is also enclosed and is used only for sanitizing personal items (phones, masks, keys) for 2+ minutes — not for air flow.
Who needs this product most?
Senior care rooms, apartments and condos with shared building air, families with immunocompromised members, post-surgical recovery rooms, wildfire smoke seasons, and allergy/asthma bedrooms. SHIELDGUARD was developed during COVID to isolate one room from the rest of the building.
What filtration efficiency was measured?
Independent testing shows 100% reduction at 10 µm through 1 µm, ~99.73% at 0.5 µm, and ~99.44% at 0.3 µm MPPS (the most penetrating particle size for HEPA filters). Full data is on this page under Filtration Efficiency.
Who Needs ShieldGuard?
Engineered during COVID for one precise mission: isolate a room from the rest of the building.
Senior Care Homes
Isolate a sick resident's room from the rest of the building. During COVID, shared HVAC systems spread contaminated air across floors — sometimes 5+ deaths per week in a single facility across North America.
Apartments & Condos
One inlet open, others sealed, door closed. Clean air stays in YOUR unit — droplets from a neighbour or another floor cannot infiltrate.
Families with Vulnerable Members
Protect seniors, immunocompromised individuals, and allergy sufferers by creating a filtered, UV-C treated air barrier in a dedicated room.
Wildfire Smoke
Closed circuit + positive pressure reduces infiltration of fine particulates (PM2.5) from outdoors — critical in Canada and the western United States.
Allergy & Asthma
HEPA+ filtration at 0.3 µm MPPS captures pollen, mold spores, and allergens that trigger attacks.
Bedroom / Home Office
Turn one room into a controlled-air zone — ideal for remote work, post-surgical recovery, or restorative sleep.
