Install — one room, rest of house untouched
Couple the unit to one floor supply vent in the target room. Seal only extra supply grilles in that room. Leave every grille elsewhere as the HVAC technician balanced them.
Steps
- Identify the target bedroom or apartment room.
- If that room has 2–3 supply grilles, install gasketed magnetic caps on the sibling boots in that room only.
- Couple the Air Filter to the remaining boot (gasket for 4×10 / 4×12 / 6×10 / 6×12).
- Measure remaining boot CFM with the furnace running (Mode A). Typical 90–120 CFM after sealing siblings.
- Set fan to match measured CFM. Do not run High (~282 CFM) on intercept if the boot only supplies ~100 CFM.
- Confirm the furnace still runs normally with MERV 11–13 in place.
- Close the door. Optional: check door ΔP (+2.5 to +8 Pa if the sweep is decent).
- Unused boots in that room get a sealed cap — not half-closed slats.
- Housing is rated for winter supply air.
Mode reminder
A — Intercept (furnace on): treat air at that one vent; match boot CFM.
B — Recirculate (furnace off): Mid ~137 CFM or High ~282 CFM through the same stack.
